Question / Help Nvenc encoding on different GPU than playing on?

Hello,

So I have a 1080 Ti installed in my current system, but I have a 980 Ti laying around collecting dust right now too. I was wondering if I could throw my 980 Ti in there (NOT SLI obviously) and set Nvenc to encode on the 980 Ti while I play on the 1080 Ti? I am having some fps drops just by having OBS open and then even bigger drops when recording, so I was wondering if this could help with either of the two issues with fps drops?

Thanks

I was able to run my games on my RX 480 and encode on my GTX 670 just fine. It allowed a better experience of the game without one GPU trying to do two things at once. Try it but be sure to have the correct GPU selected in the settings.

Thank you both. To OG See OH Zee, using Nvenc cause an increase in GPU Core Load even when the GPU Video Engine Load never goes above 40%?
