(Not sure where this belongs...) Email problems with mail.com?

I tried to create an account with either of my (just recently created) mail.com email addresses, and I kept getting a 'this email address banned by administrator' -- I have never signed up for an account here before, and so most certainly didn't get a ban -- unless someone built a time machine and I become a jerk in the future, lol.

Is mail.com itself just blocked in general?
If so, why?

We have banned a few email domains because 99% of registrations from those domains were spam.
