Question / Help Not recording audio

Ok so hears my setup I am using two VB-audio cables I have one set up to capture my discord audio(which it does perfectly) then another for my desktop audio, and then I have my microphone set up as a separate input(this is all to be able to change audio levels). When I have a friend talking or any sound coming from discord my microphone doesn't get recorded(yet it says it is recording it), it doesn't even pick up my microphone in game chat. Any one have any suggestions for me.
