So i have been recording with OBS since forever. I have a yeti mic ect ect. I was recording yesterday and did not have this issue and i started up my OBS today and have this issue that i wouldn't of noticed had i not done my pre video testing.

The issue i have come across if i have a noise gate set up to close my mic after i'm done talking. Set to about 35 on both the open and close (pictures below). When i open OBS everything is all good mic is closed ect ect (picture 1) Soon as i talk or make a loud enough noise for the mic to pick up ( picture 2) It hangs open. I can also confirm it dosent look like the noise gate is working at all because a small keyboard key will set it off and i have the noise gate set up to prevent this.

I can confirm it's not the mic itself or the USB line as i moved computers and it works fine on OBS on another PC. I also moved the USB cord while the mic was running and there was no sound detected from me doing so.

Sounds like there's still enough input to the mic to keep it open with your current settings, or maybe some third-party software dynamically adjusting the mic volume.

I seem to have found a fix for it i went it removed my noise great closed OBS started OBS and remade the noisegate so far no issues

Edit : Odd it seems to only do it when both the Closed and open gates are both set to the same number

You shouldn't have them set to the same values anyway. You generally want the open threshold to be higher than the close threshold.

From my own experience, to get best of the Noise Gate filter, set Close Threshold to minimum and set Open Threshold to maximum, then adjust Open Threshold until level meter in Mixer's list begins to react (to environmental noise if you adjusting mic), and then make adjustments to the Close Threshold again (about 8dB lower). For example, Close Threshold = -96 bB Open Threshold = 0 dB, you'll find out that at Open Threshold = -30 dB level meter begins to react, then set Close Threshold = -38 dB. Threshold values are negative, thus -38 dB lower than -30 dB. Close Threshold level value should be lower than Open Threshold. For mic – make all adjustments in silent.

Or you can try this guide: https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...e-suppression-noise-gate-and-gain-filter.423/
