Noise Gate help, please

So, I use the Blue Yeti microphone, and had a noise gate setting that I thought worked well, but still cut out my voice at times (the more quit/whisper parts)... I've tried changing them, and currently am at -30 close / -20 open, and I think it made it worse... So does that mean I should go higher with the DB or lower with the DB? (I think it was at -34 close / -20 open before but I can't remember)

I also have Compressor (don't think I touched anything so should be default) and noise Suppression filters (speex method, -10 DB) if anybody thinks I should mess with/remove those as well.

The noise gate cuts off any sound lower than the values you enter as open and close threshold. A -30 is lower (quieter) than a -20 (just in case you're confused with the negative sign).
If the gate is currently cutting off sound ("it's closed"), any sound louder than the open threshold value will make the gate open and stop cutting off sound.
If the gate is currently not cutting off sound ("it's open"), any sound quieter than the close threshold will make the gate close and start cutting off sound.

If the gate doesn't open if you start talking as whisper instead of normal voice, you need to lower the open threshold to make the gate open earlier.
If the gate closes too early (cuts off your whisper) if you first speak normally and then lower your voice to a whisper, you need to lower the close threshold to make the gate close later.

You should have the noise gate as first filter.

I have mine at gate, suppression and compression... pretty sure that is what was in the guide. What I always do is turn off the last 2 and get the first one sounding good. Rinse and repeat adding them one at a time...nothing say mine are right but they do all together get rid of my room ac/heater noise which is why I use them.
