Question / Help No webcam or audio when Elgato HD60 Connected

Hello,

I've recently purchased the Elgato HD60 in time for Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch and was so excited I could barely comprehend what was about to happen !

I would prefer to use the capture card through OBS since that's what I'm most familiar with; however I seem to lose the functionality of my microphone and webcam.

Whenever I stream without the capture card I never ONCE have experienced a shut down or "Not Responding" crash; yet, every single time I plug in the capture card I have to restart my computer just for it to function and my OBS and webcam controller (for the Logitech C920) fail to operate - not to mention the use of my microphone craps out as well.

If I hardboot the computer after this (because somehow the webcam controller isn't able to close even after hours of waiting for windows the shut down[and again ONLY with the capture card connected]) the capture through OBS says it's being used by another device and I have to disconnect everything all together.

As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating when you're anticipation for the latest Zelda has already experienced its highest level through the line of waiting for the Switch. Now I've had the annoyance of not being able to get this to work.

My only last comments is that on OBS, my webcam is considered a "Video Capture Device" which is the same type of device that I search for when I want to capture my Nintendo Switch gameplay - is this a coincidence ? If so, how come the audio doesn't work either ?

Does any of this sound familiar? Please help me as the $200 capture card has now been deemed useless !! :(

Thank you,

Colin Marples

Your USB header likely can't handle multiple devices at once. You'll need to lower resolution of one or the other. My suggestion would be to return the USB Elgato and purchase an internal card if you have a desktop PC.

That said, post a log and we can see if there's anything else going on.
