Specs:
RTX 2070 Super
Msi x470 gaming pro carbon
Ryzen 7 3800x
16gb 3466 cl16 RAM (can't remember what i have the timings set to)

So, the issue i'm running into is that I am not getting video output when recording. trying to record the following sources: Webcam, game capture, display capture, browser overlays, and video files (AVI intro/brb & WebM stinger transitions). I do still record audio, just no video. Wizard config was dropping frames but not my own settings. However, neither config will record anything but audio.

This has just happened recently, I have not changed my settings since my stream except for enabling auto recording while streaming. Unchecking that does not resolve issue. Update to current release didn't either. Was previously running 25.0.4 now running 25.0.8

To be clear this is not a "black screen" issue. All my sources work in OBS they just aren't being rendered into the video file.

Nvm, figured it out. For some reason Windows Media Player was no longer outputing video for my files. Switching to VLC resoolved my issue

WMP does not natively support MKV Whereas VLC does You can download a video codex to add it to WMP Also, you can Remux the video file in OBS to MP4 or other formats

I had the same issue on Linux except my workaround was opposite: I'm already exporting mp4, and VLC, which is usually more reliable, was showing the video in black, but the default video player showed it correctly.

In the end I followed greenoldman's answer on https://superuser.com/questions/109...creen-with-sound-for-videos-while-other-playe

> Go to "Input/Codecs" tab, "Codecs" section and changing "Hardware accelerated decoding" entry to "Disable" (VA-API Video Decoder (with or without DRM) also work)

It used to work fine, maybe what triggered this is that I switched to NVIDIA Settings from On-Demand to Performance Mode. In any case, that was just a VLC fix too, no change on OBS side.

Unrelated: aha, funny that the previous poster's username is deFrisselle when my avatar shows a character named "Freecell"

No because it happens with MP4 files for me too. VLC also fixed the issue, but I do not like how VLC always opens at maximum size for me.

Did you finally solve the problem with this?
