No VHS showing. Just black screen

I am trying to convert my old VHS tapes to digital format with a MacBook Air with Silicon chip and Sequoia IOS. Have followed all instructions for connections and settings in OBS but cannot see any video on a black OBS screen and recording does not work either. Youtube tutorials emphasize the need to give permission for screen recording and have done it properly, but still no image or recording of my VHS tapes. Is there anything else I could do? Thanks
