Using OBS 27.1.3 on an M1 Mac mini, running Big Sur 11.6.
When I start OBS, sometimes there is No Output Session. Program screen is black. Put OBS in Studio mode, Preview Screen shows the selected scene, and changes accordingly, but Preview will not transition to Program, which remains black whether or not in Studio Mode.
However, sometimes when I start OBS, all works normally — there is an Output Session whether or not in Studio Mode.
After trying to find a cause, and work-around, I have discovered that quitting OBS while "Enable Preview" is checked is the solution. Upon re-starting OBS it works normally — normal Output Session, whether or not in Studio Mode, and even after unchecking Enable Preview during that session.
Conversely, quitting OBS with Enable Preview unchecked, there is no Output Session upon re-starting OBS.
With the foregoing work-around (quitting OBS with "Enable Preview" checked), I am okay for now, but hope this apparent bug can be fixed.
OBS rocks, and so do you dedicated Devs! Your diligence much appreciated.
Using OBS, we do two FB live shows a week with 18 scenes (thanks for that recent upgrade), four cameras, and two laptop sources via NDI and capture card, hotkeys to bring in lower thirds, and using the terrific Transition Table plug-in. Show #463 was Tuesday; #464 tomorrow. All previous shows at:
