Question / Help No longer able to stream on AMD Laptop

Update seems to have broken OBS...

I set up the layout and everything same as I did last week, but when I press the Start Streaming button, I immediately get a pop up telling me that Starting the Output Failed and to check the log. All drivers are up to date.

Probably related, but the AMD H264 Enhanced Encoder I was using successfully last week is also gone from the Output Settings. My only option now is x264, which does not work well, at any rate.

This is the second time I've seen this. Checking in to why this happens. Not sure when I will have an answer, most folks have went to bed tonight already.

Try a reinstall from the full installer. There was a tiny window where this may have occurred with the auto-updated (only a few seconds, so you just got really unlucky!)

Checking this out with our dev who's working on the AMD encoder. If there's an issue, will be fixed in 19.0.2. But first try updating your drivers.

Wiping HP's drivers and installing drivers directly from AMD seems to have fixed the issue. Turns out what the HP Assistant had installed was almost 2 years out of date, even though this Pavilion is only a year old model, and I've only had it for a couple of weeks.

Hopefully this helps others with the same issue.
