No desktop audio available when I plug in headphones

I'm fairly new to OBS, but I'm trying to make this work and checked old threads for this issue. None of the solutions worked, such as updating drivers and turning off device exclusivity. If there's an obvious solution I'm missing, please let me know.

sounds for me that your "Headphones" are another sound device then that you selected
example
without headset your desktop sounds use "soundcard-output1"
and on headset connect the desktop sounds switch to "soundcard2-headphone1" or "soundcard-output2"

If that's the case, what would I need to go to so I can change the settings?
