No Camcorder Audio

Hi,
I'm painfully new to this. I'm trying to record old Hi8 tapes using my Sony Handycam. The video works fine. The audio is another story. Radio silence. It does a weird thing in that it records audio from the browser. I had a YouTube video playing, and it recorded the audio from that over the camcorder video. I just want the audio and video from the tapes. What am I doing wrong?

I think, you need to complete next steps: disable Global Audio Devices inside OBS and to grand permissions from the OS side to use your capture device in OBS.

1)
Look at OBS main menu File > Settings > Audio > Global Audio Devices (group) > Mic/Aux and set it to "Disabled".
Same should be done for the File > Settings > Audio > Global Audio Devices (group) > Desktop Audio set it to "Disabled" too.

2)
Windows Settings Privacy was mentioned in this post, but remember that you are looking for the "Digital Audio Interface (USB Digital Audio)":

---------------------------------
By default, OBS wouldn't playback sound that is capturing right now - the sound signal will be routed directly to the file. But "Audio Mixer" pane will show moving level meter for the device.
