Question / Help No audio while using s-video connection

Hi- I am a obs newbie trying to digitize old vhs recordings. I am using a vid box usb capture card and I am able to capture audio and video with obs default settings through rca component connections. I have a vcr with s-video out connections that I want to use with obs to capture higher fidelity video however I get no audio at all when using the s-video connection. The oddity is that It all works fine with s-video using the bundled software that came with the capture card. I would like to use obs to tweak some capture settings to achieve a better capture. I also tried it on the Mac with similar results trying both the bundled software and obs so I figure it must be an obs setting that I am missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

S-video does not carry audio.
Thank you, Narcogen…. understood that s-video does not carry an audio signal. I have the RCA (component Red and White) cables connected simultaneously from the audio out of the VCR. I know there is audio coming from the VCR through those cables. My question is how do I configure OBS to combine the video from the svideo cable with the audio coming from the RCA cables.

That would depend on the specific features of the device you're connecting to your computer.

OBS generally treats devices as either audio, video, or both. If the device has multiple potential inputs then its driver needs to be told which inputs to use for audio and video. It's possible that when the s-video input is in use, you may need to add an audio source that specifically points to the device in order to pick up audio from a different input.

I don't see mention of OBS compatibility on the VidBox site for the device I think you're referring to, just driver and software downloads. It may be that the function of choosing different video/audio inputs and combining them is in their software but not exposed in the device driver?

you need to find out on what audio from the usb device the audio signal comes
you need to add 2 seperate 1x the video overlay and 1x a audio source from the usb device
how its called or if that only works with the bundle software you need to find out on the device creator

Go into obs settings at "audio"
and check on like "microfon/audiodevice 1/2/3/4" if there is in the dropdown a device like your usb the chance that there is your seperated sound is high

If you're unable to make the capture device give audio with OBS, you might be able to connect some audio output from the vcr device directly to your PC - to the "audio in" jack where you usually plug in the mic connector from a headset.
