Hello

I had to switch to my laptop to do some recordings. OBS used to work but now the only thing that works is screen capture. All my video sources show black screens. Mic audio does not register, Desktop audio does not register.

here is my log file : https://obsproject.com/logs/cWyK9dmY4RCQ7sYW

I made sure OBS is set to use the GTX 3070 under graphics settings in windows. I checked that the audio output device is my speakers. I checked that in audio input is the correct mic, I even checked 3 different microphones.

OBS used to work fine but after updating to version 30 the above issues happened. I installed the Nvidia noise suppression software at the same time I updated OBS. I have tried to uninstall every plugin including the Nvidia noise suppression, as well as OBS. Re installed OBS and the same issue is still there.

The weird part is everything works outside of OBS, the web cams and mic's and audio all work outside of OBS.
Some extra information, OBS picks up all the sources and they show in the device dropdowns. But when I select them they show blank screens. Activating and de activating them does nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I figured it out. I have Kasperksy as my anti virus and for some reason it blocked access to audio and video to OBS. Once I removed it I am now able to use it again. Audio mixer is picking up sound again !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah! Yeah, the big-name AV tools are pretty much universally known now, for being more theater than anything else. They had their place - a VERY STRONG place - in the early days when the makers of popular operating systems weren't thinking so much about security, so not having one *then* really was asking to get hacked in the next hour or so.

But now they're coasting on that residual fear, and constantly reminding you about how good a job you're supposed to think they're doing. And they often cause weird problems that are hard to track down.
But they're no longer needed when the OS itself understands what security is, and receives regular updates. (and you don't reflexively download everything that catches your eye, and automatically approve everything that asks for it, as some people still do)

The risk that used to come from a lack of third-party AV, now comes from a lack of OS updates instead. Same risk. And third-party AV has become irrelevant.
