Question / Help No audio being recorded/streamed

I'm not getting any audio besides from my microphone when I stream or record. Strangely it's detecting my desktop audio, as you can see in the settings video the green bar is moving around because I have a youtube video playing. I've tried all sorts of combinations of settings etc and audio output capture. OBS classic video is less smooth, with 2 monitors it even stutters, so getting this working would be so good.

If not desktop audio is there any way to capture game audio only?

@xanax666 VLC player maybe?
@Waz And why you are using Output Mode: Advanced while recording single audio track video? Check shared mode device settings at Windows (Playback devices properties, choose 2 channels 48000Hz).

I'm using advanced because simple does not work either and it gives me more options to change in the hope of finding a solution. Also lets me have the same settings as OBS classic.

I've already tried changing my own audio settings like the sample rate but to no effect.

Either you posted wrong log or your device were terminated before the streaming session to the Twitch (this is only the event in log that suits to the video link). Make sure that you have: good cables; enough power (one device into 2xUSB ports); disable power saving for the device; do not use the device by other programs. In short - the problem is in the USB audio card.

OBS is definitely the problem. My DAC is very good, the cables are top notch, it's set up perfectly. I've not had a single other issue in 2 years of using this DAC. Recording with identical settings and hardware works fine on OBS classic.

Googling the issue it seems a lot of people have had similar issues, particularly with USB headsets. OBS studio must have some compatibility issues with soundcards.

I'll try out my cheap asus soundcard and the onboard audio this weekend. Hopefully I can get it to record sound from those while still listening through my DAC.

I'm having the same issue too. Even the fixes I've tried are just temporary and the moment I close OBS it won't stream my desktop audio anymore. I've turn off exclusive mode, set to specific devices etc. This seems to only happen when I'm on headset tho. Desktop Audio can be captured when I'm using my screen in-built speaker. I'm using a Kingston Hyper X Cloud connected via 3.5mm jack.

@FiamaArin no recording session in your log-file. Make sure that the device connected before you run OBS Studio. To select it from the list of available devices.

@Waz and don't forget to disable power saving scheme for your PC (in Windows switch balanced to performance).

@FiamaArin Try adding device via the Audio Output Capture source to the current scene or just made new Scene Collection (for test purposes) and add devices again via Setting>Audio. Any changes?

Make sure you're disabling exclusive mode for your sound devices. Especially with higher-end audio software in use, it can cause issues.

@xanax666 I mean, you may try different application to test is there any sound recorded. By the way, your level meter turns green (moving) when you add the audio source?

@xanax666 your USB sound device was terminated before recording session too. Something wrong with the USB device settings (maybe power management or driver bug).
