Hi everyone.
I've had this bug for quite some time, and haven't gotten to research on it to see if it has been reported previously.
I can't find any info on it, so I think this is the way to report it.
Anyway, the issue is as follows, and it's quite easy to replicate:
1. Use a valid audio monitoring device, confirm the "Monitor and Output" audio sources do send audio to the monitoring device.
2. Close OBS
3. Turn off the valid audio monitoring device (I often use a bluetooth headset along a USB one, so in my case I can just disconnect the bluetooth headset)
4. Go to settings, audio, and in Monitoring Device the disabled device should be selected, but gray in the selector.
5. Test audio, nothing works, obviously, as there's no valid monitoring device. Audio recording works tho.
6. Switch to a valid monitoring device
7. Test audio, and you'll still have complete silence even having a valid audio monitoring device.
8. Now, go to the Advanced Audio Properties on the mixer, and switch from "Monitor and Output" to "Monitor Off", and then from "Monitor Off" to "Monitor and Output" for each one of your audio sources (you may have to untick "Active Sources Only" to see all of them).
9. Test audio again, it should work properly.
Remember that the transitions also have audio monitoring options.
This works if you are already streaming or don't want to restart OBS, because the simplest solution is just switch to the valid monitoring device and restarting OBS.
The way it should work is that when you switch the monitoring device in settings, it should honor the Advanced Audio Properties on the mixer and enable the audio monitoring on those sources, but it doesn't.
I thing this should be fixed (I don't think it's that hard, and I'd do it myself, but I don't have the time).
This thread can work as a workaround for the issue as well as a bug report.
Have a nice day everyone.
Ah, and if it's a duplicate of another thread, I didn't find it.
