Niche Question regarding Video Quality

Hello All,

I'll keep this short. I am someone looking to create online Poker content. I have developed a style I would like to go for yet the biggest thing that makes my videos lose quality is the quality of the recording. You see, I will play 6 tables at once, and then for the video, zoom into the table that the hand is playing on, meaning I crop the video to about 1/6 or 1/8 of my total screen, which results in the quality dropping tremendously. I have tried increasing the recording quality but Im worried that the video might be compressing on export. I am currently recording at 7500 Kbps, while the default was 2500 and have not seen much of a quality improvement. I am really new to editing and recording so I appreciate all the understanding.

For recording, don't use CBR rate control. It's for streaming and don't result in very high quality unless used with much higher bitrates. Use CQP with a cq value of about 16-20 (lower values are higher quality). The best thing would be Tools > Auto Configuration Wizard to get a good baseline configuration. It sets simple output mode, and here you can choose the quality you want. If you want quality reserves for postprocessing, choose "indistinguishable quality".
