News Format. Control OBS from Excel, Doc, etc?

I'd like to create a news broadcast style stream read from a doc, sheet or anything text-based (on a teleprompter) where I realtime click embedded links which calls up a specific scene and plays media. The way I imagine it working is an excel doc has columns listing: scene, file name (for popup image, video, etc), folder (image, video, etc), and the script. So far I'm not finding anything online. If there are any suggestions or alternative workflows, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

This is a few months old and no replies - I am interested in the same thing jayrex - Hope someone sees this that will help and reply.
