I'm having the same problem. Very frustrating. I was told on GitHub by the developers that OBS Release candidates were only meant to work on 22.04, so I reinstalled my OS for the second time in two days and went BACK to 22.04.

All I've done since installing Ubuntu is: update my packages, switch to a linux-lowlatency kernel (have used this for years without a problem,)
and removed firefox for vivaldi. That's all!

And yet, I can't get OBS to open long enough to even MAKE a log file, or add any date to my .config folder - it crashes instantly.
This happened for OBS 30.1.0 and OBS 30.0.2 as well.

@smellyonionman Hey thanks for updates. I switched to flatpak version of obs. Now, everything seems to work fine, except NVENC isn't even listed in encoder list which I have used before dpkg version.
