Newbie Problem with first install

Total newbie. Sorry if this is not the place for this question.

Just loaded OBS. Getting no audio. The volume is turned up all the way. Utube plays so speakers are fine. The audio dash board shows a strong audio signal but there is no audio output when playing a video that has loud audio on windows media player.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I plan to donate to OBS for this great free program.

Are you saying that OBS itself is not playing audio, or the recorded video has no audio? Since the former is normal, otherwise you'd get an infinite feedback loop when capturing your output. You can set a monitoring device if you need to hear playback of media files etc.

I think I am having the same issue....

I have created a scene and from my sources section, I have uploaded an MP4 video media file (w/ recorded audio in it).
However, when I preview (or see) the video playback the video appears and the I can SEE the audio in the audio mixer I just cannot hear anything.

it's strange to me because I have loaded other video files with music and they play sound perfectly? Its only seems to happen when I load a video with a voiceover?

any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated.
