Newb Transition Question

I have Advanced Scene Switcher and want a long fade (4 seconds) between scene F and G. From the tool, I can see all the transitions from the main window: the only choices are Fade and Cut for now. If I go back out to the main OBS, in the Scene Transition panel, I see the ability to add all sorts of new transitions by type, but "Fade" isn't one of them. How do I add a new fade that is 4 seconds long and give it a name, and NOT just use "current transition" which affects EVERYTHING else. I just want it to apply to the one custom scene change I'm setting up. Thanks.

I don't have any experience with the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin. But if I do understand your question on OBS Studio correctly, you'd like to use Quick Transitions. When in Studio Mode you'll find them between the Preview and Program panes.

At the top you'll find the Transition button. This will do a transition with the current settings at the Scene Transitions dock (which you don't want to use). Underneath you can add Quick Transitions: click the plus sign, set is to 4000 ms and click Fade. A new button will be created for your Quick Transition and it is possible to assign a hotkey to it.

I typically use two fade Quick Transitions but I once tried to add 8 or more. :)

Yes. I'd like to select Fade, and set it to 4000ms, then save it off to a transition named "Long Fade" so I can call it uniquely. That way I can set the Quick Transition back to 300ms so I can use it for the other 99 transitions that don't need 4000ms. When on the air, we don't have time to type 4*0*0*0*ENTER*click and the 3*0*0*ENTER*click ... it takes too long. Is there a way to save a Fade just like you can save Add:Swipe, Add:Slide, Add:Stinger, Add:Fade to color, and Add:Luma wipe? It seems odd you can add ALL the others, but not a simple fade. I must be overlooking something. Thanks for your reply.

If you right click on a scene on the scene list, there will be a context menu item "Transition Override". Set your 4 second fade for just that scene there.

I recently added the option to set transition durations on the transition tab of the advanced scene switcher in addition to also only relying on transition overrides.

This should allow you to set the duration of a transition for specific entries in the advanced scene switcher and might be useful for this situation.

TransitionDuration

I haven't released a version including this change yet.
So if you want to try this feature you will have to download the corresponding build from GitHub:
(Note that you have to be logged into GitHub to be able to download the build artifacts)

Just out of curiosity (and slightly off topic): do you provide a way to set the transition properties (ie. on slide: the direction)?

No, the scene switcher does not provide such functionality.
For this you would have to create multiple slide transitions each with different settings.
