Question / Help New user, cannot record gameplay (and now having mic troubles)

Hello. I have recently decided to try using OBS, but I've been having problems. The program never seems to pick up the game footage. I've tried changing from game capture to monitor and window capture, but all I see is a black screen. I tried lowering the fraps, but that hasn't worked. I can get the sound of the game, so I guess that's something.

But speaking of sound, today I just tried to experiment again and now my microphone isn't working. I have it set to record using my mic, I tried to switch to my laptop mic, but the program is not picking up on any microphone sound.

Okay, I think I had them both downloaded so I got them confused. I just tried the newer version, and it's picking up my mic, but I'm still not getting any video. Here's the log: https://gist.github.com/bb1047fd7ef51fdcf1c3457dd69ac658

Alright, I uninstalled everything and got, for sure, the newest version. It seems to be working now, it's recognizing my mic and recording the video game. Thank you.
