Question / Help New to OBS

Hey all,

So a friend of mine told me that OBS was the best to stream to Twitch. So I downloaded it, and started to stream. But the quality is fuzzy. I can't go back to my friend, because he logged for the night. So what would you change in my settings to make it play World of Warcraft smoothly?

I am running:

i5-6600 3.30Ghz
8 GB Ram
NVidia GTX 970

on a SSD (if that matters)

I am new to this, so treat me as if i'm an idiot. :P
 
Also, I have some pretty 'good' internet speeds...

1. Update to OBS Studio, OBS Classic is no longer in development
2. Downscale to 1280x720
3. Increase your bitrate to 2000 Kbps
 
OK, I did that, anything else to recommend? I was reading that games like Hearthstone are easy, since there isn't as many moving pieces. But with World of Warcraft and FPS's the screen is constantly moving. Is there anything else you'd personally recommend?

Edit #1: You mean downscale the resolution of Canvas or Scaled? or both?
 
Ok, the quality IS much better than what I was using the Classic version... So thank you for that.

Although it's still fuzzy, as if I am looking through beer-googles or something. Anything to help clear that up? Text is hard to read.
 
Downscaling from 1080p to 720p throws out roughly half of the pixels in each frame, then what's left gets encoded to fit into a relatively low bitrate, so tiny text is almost always going to lose some quality in a live stream. If you record locally you have a lot more freedom to crank up the bitrate or let the encoder decide how much to use to maintain the image quality.

Twitch supports up to 3500 Kbps so you can take the bitrate that high if you'd like, but keep in mind that higher bitrates make viewer buffering more likely. As you increase the value some viewers may have difficulty watching.
 
So instead of cranking it to 11, could I do something like 3000 bitrate?

Also should I change the Process Priority? (I read someone mentioned that.)
