Question / Help New to OBS - FPS drop even when not recording/streaming?

Hi, I installed OBS Studio today looking for a new program to record gameplay videos and while the end result is great, OBS is the only program (used to use PlaysTV, Fraps, DXTory and MSI Afterburner) which negatively affects performance even when it's just idling in the background. Unfortunately it's a huge issue for me since I only record small portions of the games (like POTGs in Overwatch) and suffering FPS loss for the majority of time seems silly.

Here's how it's impacting the performance:

3D Mark firestrike
no OBS - 9800 score, 38.09 FPS avg
OBS - 9100 score, 35.57 FPS avg

Rocket League main menu
no OBS- 120 FPS
OBS Studio no preview - 108 FPS
OBS Studio with preview - 105 FPS

Overwatch (averages)
no OBS - 63 FPS
OBS - 59 FPS

obs is video mixer and uses gpu for it so there will be some perf impact. nv shadowplay also has some impact of few fps. nothing to worry about. make sure desktop refresh is 60hz, use vsync in game and you are fine

Well Shadowplay is constantly recording in the background so it's fine. But I didn't expect to get 10% performance drop just by launching OBS.
