I am a pastor of a local church looking for some help with a recent sound/livestream issue. I admit a lot of ignorance to sound and livestream engineering, but I'm the one here throughout the week who can do some experimenting.
Set up:
Behringer X32
Sound sent through a Two Level Channel Converter to a 3.5 mm
3.5 mm connected to mic input on a Canon Vixia G70
G70 HDMI out to AJA UTAP HDMI
AJA UTAP to computer through USB
Computer to OBS (no noise suppression)
OBS to YouTube
Problem:
Our old camera stopped working (Canon Vixia G20...not sending audio/video signal to the UTAP), so we purchased a new camera (Vixia G70). The new camera seemed to work well with both video and audio, at least once we turned the mic attenuator on. However, when we livestreamed yesterday, we noticed that the music signal was awful. You can see an example here: https://www.youtube.com/live/PLr-Xu8hpP8 (a video plays at 13:00, preaching at 33:00, bad music sound at 6:00, 17:00, and 28:00.
Today I was playing around and noticed that even when I send music from our sound booth computer (which the same source as the video), it sounds awful as well.
Why does an individual microphone sound good, but music does not? Anything I should try?
Please note that our desire is not to have a fantastic livestream. We are not going for perfection, just good enough for those of our church family who are vacationing, shut-ins, etc. We want them to see and hear us clearly on a Sunday morning. Thank you!
