Need your help for a crappy stream

Hi

I'm a small streamer on Twitch, using OBS and an Elgato Game Capture HD, streaming almost exclusively Nintendo Switch Games. The thing is, I have a crappy setup, like really. I'm using an old MacBook Air, and for the moment I don't have any other possibility, and no savings at al xD The reason of this thread, is to hopefully find ways to optimize my settings, in order to provide to my viewers the best quality that I can, even if this "best" is not amazing, I want to be sure that I do the best possible for me.

For now, my streams are like a blurry soup, pixelized, sometimes okay, but most of the time extremely unclear and low resolution.

I hope you can help me! Here are some screenshots of my setting and informations regarding the Mac :

If other informations are needed, feel free to ask.

Thanks a lot!

  • Switch the Encoder to Apple VT Hardware, and set the bit rate between 1200Kbps to 2Mbps start with. x264 is a CPU hog.
  • Set your canvas resolution to match your output resolution (start with 720p for both) to take scaling load away. Also, at 720p, you'll get a bit more out of your bit rate.
  • Align your frame rate across the workflow as best as you can. 29.97 or 30fps should be fine for most projects, especially since the monitor's frame rate is 60fps.
  • Set your audio device to be the Elgato (which has to be plugged in when you set it, of course).
