Question / Help Need to record 4K with any lossless codec - how?

Hello!

I want to record short clips with the games running at 4K, high FPS, using a GTX 1080Ti, Intel i7-7700K and SSDs. In another forum I was told to use lossless codecs like Lagarith or HuffYUV. But how?

The result should be best image quality (size of the files doesnt matter much) with little or no loss in quality. That's why I couldn't stick with Shadowplay, because the options are limited there. Was experimenting with MSI Afterburner, too, but with mixed results.

Thanks for your time.

Just use the "Indistinguishable Quality" preset, it will be visually lossless but will be MUCH smaller on disk.
Using the actual lossless quality will result in multiple GB per minute video for 4K@60

Size does matter for 4K@60 except you have a 1TB SSD or something like that just to save the video on it

Okay, it is set to "Indistinguishable Quality" now but not with NVENC as that option leads to an error here. Software x264 is possible, though. Bitrate set to 90.000. Format: MP4.

But now when I try to record in game I only get the game menu in the clip, not the actual content. Funny though that the audio is there. What's wrong?

And, btw, is it possible to set a time for a recording? Let's say I want to record 45 seconds only for each scene. That would be nice to have.

Wrong.

Indistinguishable recording quality, format FLV or MKV (never MP4) and encoder software low cpu use.

Done. Any way to have a FPS-counter (e.g. from Fraps or Afterburner) included in the recording and set recording timers?

Update: Tried many options, also the settings described here. With no success. The recordings I get are jerky and sometimes with artefacts. At least thats what different players show (in each player the result is different). :|

I have to add that I not only want to record with my 1080Ti but with other, older cards as well. For benchmark tests. So it can happen that I want to record 4K with a GTX 670.

17:44:09.099: Output 'simple_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 1914 (74.4%)

The GTX670 definitely can't handle it.
