So, I have a gaming YouTube channel. I don't do livestream gaming and instead publish episodic play through vids, along with shorter, informative vids cut from those episodes. Currently, I have about 230 episodes, each are about 45 minutes and to run them back-to-back would take about 180 hours (or about 7.5 days)
I have decided to experiment with using OBS to set up a broadcast stream on YouTube, playing those episodes back-to-back in order to promote my channel. I am in the process of acquiring a dedicated PC for this purpose; and I have a fiber connection to the internet.
I have a rudimentary understanding how to operate OBS for this, I've done very long streams by using VLC as a media source and queued up vids and let them play.
So, here are some questions/issues I have concerns about:
Is there a way to control when and where YouTube inserts ad breaks on an automated basis? Ideally, I'd want the ads to run between the 45 minute episodes.
Is there a better method than just letting VLC manage the queue, I can't really figure out where VLC is in the queue, or how much time remains to finish the queue.
Is it better to break up the stream, by stopping and restarting it on a daily basis?
In case of power or internet service interruption, is there a good way to automatically restart the stream?
