Question / Help Need Help Removing Party Audio From Stream {Studio/Astro A40 TR/PS4}

Hey guys,

So I recently got a pair of Astro A40 TRs for streaming on my PS4. Its great because now I can actually throw the game audio to my stream now that I have a capable headset (or mix amp rather).

My problem is.. I am getting my buddies audio coming through to my steam. I want to simply stream without his audio coming through and have just the game audio. I've toyed around with a couple setting in the PS4 options and can't get anything. He even has his audio set to "do not allow" for the party chat setting. Everywhere I look for solutions, are just old threads from people trying to get the stream to "allow" the party. I need the opposite obviously.

If anyone could help with this at all it would be greatly appreciated. If this is even an OBS fix.

Thanks in advance!

This will take some finagling, but it isn't impossible. In short, party chat audio comes with your game sound no matter what your friends set at, unless you stream using the PlayStation's own streaming software. Ultimately, You're going to have to split the audio output from the PS4, and this is not an easy task with only the A40s.

Actually, hang on. I know how you can do it. You'll need a 3.5mm male-to-male cable running from the PS4 controller into the Aux input of your MixAmp. In PS4 Settings > Devices > Audio Devices, make sure your input is USB, and your output is the "headset connected to the controller", then set your headphone output to "Chat Only".

Now, your buddy will only be heard by you, and the stream capture will have game sound only in it. To reverse this? Simply unplug the cable and switch the audio output to "All Audio".

Hey Jim,

Thanks for the reply. Last night I did some more reading and even hopped on the Astros Forum. I followed a basic setup that was available which had me switching around some options on my settings. It seemed to do the trick for the setup and the audio sounds fine. No echo for party or any other little problems like that. Hopefully that'll be all I need to do.

Around step 7 I believe I had to change a setting back to switch the audio to Chat Audio. Not sure if that mattered or not because it grayed out when I switched back. Anyways, hopefully someone else can use this. There is also info for Xbox and PC in the link as well. Thanks again.

Configuring your PS4
1) Switch on your PS4 and make sure you've signed into the profile wanting to use the equipment.

2) Navigate to Settings > Sound and Screen > Audio Output Settings.

3) Select Primary Output Port and change this to DIGITAL OUT (OPTICAL). If required, only select Dolby Digital 5.1ch as an input format on the next screen.

4) Under the Audio Output Settings, change the Audio Format (Priority) to Bitstream (Dolby).

5) Navigate to Settings > Devices > Audio Devices.

6) Change the Input Device and Output Device to the ASTRO MixAmp Pro TR.

7) Select Adjust Microphone Level and change the Microphone Level slider so when you speak, the Input Volume is somewhere within the Good area.

8) Change the Volume Control (Headphones) to the maximum position.

9) Change the Output to Headphones to Chat Audio. Do not select All Audio or else you will lose your Dolby, EQ and the ability to balance your mixer between game and voice audio.
