Hi. I have a Canon ZR830 mini-dv camcorder connected to my Macbook pro (running High Sierra OS) to one of the thunderbolt ports using an adaptor. I am using OBS to capture the mini-dv video to my Mac. I am having no problem capturing the video, but am having no success in capturing the audio.
I understand that I need the iShowU audio capture app and have successfully installed it. I have been doing a lot of google research to figure out how to configure everything. I am only moderately tech savvy, and am now thoroughly confused. In addition to installing the iShowU audio capture app, I have also gone to Audio MIDI setup in my MAC settings and created a multi output device. I don't really understand how these two items are related. I don't seem to be able to designate ports for my midi device.
When I capture the video with OBS the only way I can get any audio is by letting the Mac's mic pick up the audio from the camcorder's speaker. Of course, this is unacceptable as the mic also picks up ambient noise from the room and the sound quality of the camcorder's speaker is inferior to digitally captured audio.
Has anyone had experience with this setup and able to guide me through the set-up process step-by-step? Thanks.
