Question / Help Need Help Choosing PC for OBS

Hello Guys,

I am pretty new here and to OBS. I have a project to stream Minecraft ( least graphic intensive game) also to stream videos ( movies ) to my friend live...I was wondering what sort of PC I will need. Does Gigabyte Brix GB-BACE-3000 Ultra Compact PC ( It has Intel HD Graphics) work well ?
Also Since OBS uses a lot of CPU will that little thing be able to stand 24/7 streaming?
Or is it better to buy some graphic cards like GTX960 (or better) and build a better PC?

You will need a much better PC than the one you suggested.
But the first question ist: In which quality you will provide the stream and what's your Upload Speed of your Internet connection?

If you want to stream Minecraft with (let's say) 720p@60fps you will need atleast a good Intel i5 CPU. Streaming is much more CPU intense then GPU intense.

And ehm..... [...] "also to stream videos ( movies )" [...] that's illegal. So please don't do this ;-)

Thanks Maggi for answering, I want the Best of the Best Quality....ok so it doesnt matter if my GPU is less than GTX960 or is something cheap (gigabyte Geforce GT 730 2GB)
, as long as I am rocking a stellar CPU right? like i7?

Yea ok its illegal I wont stream I meant more like anime, but lets say I wanted to stream something in 1080p I would be looking towards CPU more than GPU right?

Yes you are absolutely right. A 730 2GB should be enough. When it comes to streaming you should always look towards CPU than GPU.

Thanks Maggie. Just wondering if I intend to stream 24/7 are there any factors that I should be aware of? like more ram or good ventilation? speed of internet connection is 10Mbps up and down.

I don't have any experiences with long time streaming. I don't know which part take affect. But I assume a good cooling is required anyways. RAM isn't needed that much.

Maybe other user can give you a closer look what to do when long time streaming.

OBS requires a not-terrible GPU. Get something like a GTX 750, GTX 950, or GTX 1050, at the least, rather than a GT 730. Or a similarly powerful AMD option.

Look into the Ryzen 5s. Lots of cores are good for video encoding, and I don't think Minecraft cares if the CPU doesn't have the best single core speeds.
