Need help adding Shoutcast stream information (New OBS user)

Hello everyone - I've just installed OBS Studio for the first time & was hoping to get some clarification on how to set some things up to stream an audio stream using OBS Studio. I have already installed the Audio Monitor plug in for OBS, "butt" (broadcast using this tool) app and VB-Cable Virtual Audio Device and have configured them per the recommendations in this tutorial video: https://youtu.be/C0zY2CGRCco?si=CGyKpxVfoKRRvXBZ

My confusion comes in at entering my personal stream information into OBS Studio. I have a Shoutcast stream, so they have provided me with the following information:
IP-ADDRESS: myinfo.streamhood.com
PORT: 8000
PASSWORD:abc4567

I have been using a very outdated version of Sam Broadcaster for a very long time, so I have become very used to that user interface, and cannot yet wrap my head around where I would plug in this information within OBS Studio to get my audio streaming. I am particularly confused by the "Stream" tab in Settings, as I don't know what service to select in the first drop down menu. I don't see an option there for Shoutcast. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with this?

Probably not relevant but my ultimate goal is to run my audio stream through Shoutcast - to be played in a virtual world (Second Life) nightclub. If I can provide any additional information to clarify, i would be happy to do so. Thanks for reading.

Greetings phenexwitch,

Sorry for the lengthy post...I am not good at summarizing. Also caveat: I am new to OBS, Second Life and streaming. So hopefully other forum members will correct or clarify anything I suggest that is incorrect or ill-advised.

I am a relatively new performer in Second Life (SL) and was tackling a similar challenge attempting to connect the online jamming service, Jamkazam (JK), to second life to allow for performing duos or groups to be able to hear each other while performing. Thank you very much for posting the link above, as it provided essential info for me to be successful. FWIW, my audio routing ended up: JK to Restream.io (option in JK) to OBS/OBS Audio Monitor to VB-Cable to BUTT, to my Shoutcast Server. Had poor audio at 44.1K Hz sample rate. But after changing to 48K sample rate (highly recommended in many posts), audio was clear. JK has a beta direct interface for Icecast servers, but not Shoutcast. I may consider switching to an Icecast server for a simpler setup from JK.

Depending on your setup, I'm curious why you want to use OBS instead of routing your audio directly to BUTT, then to your Shoutcast server. If you're only using two audio inputs (examples: mic/guitar, or mic/backing tracks), or if you can mix down more than 2 channels to 2-channel stereo, this would be the simplest approach. My experience is BUTT can only accept 2-channel stereo (may be the same for OBS, not sure).

Assuming you do want to use OBS, I think you're confusing which app will connect to your Shoutcast Server (based on the setup from the website you cited). I think your audio setup will be something like: guitar/mic/other channels to mixer (?) to computer interface box to USB cable to computer to OBS/OBS Audio Monitor to VB-Cable to BUTT to Shoutcast server. With this assumed audio string, I don't think you would be actually broadcasting OBS directly to your Shoutcast server. As you noted, there is no OBS option to broadcast to a Shoutcast Server. You would need to configure BUTT to receive audio input from the VB-Cable and enter your Shoutcast URL, port, and pwd info into BUTT. Assuming it is working, you should see audio meter indications in OBS (in both the Audio Mixer and Audio Monitor windows), as well as BUTT (just like in the tutorial video you cited). To test your audio quality, you may want to use the record functions in both OBS and BUTT, and playback the recordings to make sure you're sending good audio to your Shoutcast Server. Then the ultimate check would be to send continuous audio from your setup to your Shoutcast server and connect to the server from another computer using an app such as iTunes, Win Media, etc., to confirm the audio quality that will go to SL.

Hope this helps. Feel free to post follow-up questions. I'll try to monitor periodically, or you can IM me (Troubadour) in SL.
