Hi, I own three Logitech C922 cameras which I currently connect to an old (2010) laptop running OBS. The laptop also encodes and streams. OBS usually streams all 3 camera feeds where one camera is the main feed plus two pip feeds. Considering the age of the laptop it is actually running pretty good with a CPU load of around 30%. The laptop is equipped with 4 external USB2 ports based on the Intel(R) 5 Series/3400 chipset.
However, I am limited on USB bandwidth on this particular laptop. It will only work with three C922 cameras simultaneously when I set all cameras to a resolution of 1280 x 720 at 25 fps. Each C922 is set to use MJPEG as the video format and partial color range for YUV
Recently I had a chance to test a more recent laptop and was blown away by the fact that it could only handle two cameras despite the fact it also had 4 USB2 ports. Clearly not all USB is created equal.
I am in need of advice on what laptop will provide me with the greatest USB bandwidth with an eye on future proofing.
