NDI laptop to desktop issue

I have downloaded OBS and NDI plug-in to both my laptop and desktop,

connected both via ethernet cable directly. Both on same wifi network.

1st issue I had was the desktop not being able to see the NDI input coming from my laptop. When I turned off my firewall through McAfee it works fine.

I then turned on my firewall and made exception (internet connection for programs) for OBS studio in my McAfee firewall settings.
However, what I get now is it works fine for a couple minutes then it freezes for a few minutes more.

Can you please explain to me why this is and how I can get my laptop screen to stream to my desktop through NDI properly?

I hope this makes sense. Kinda new to this. Thanks!

Hopefully someone who knows more will respond
But if it works fine with McAfee turned off, seems like you should be asking
- NDI plug-in author (not OBS) regarding network ports and firewall settings
- or McAfee
and using Wi-Fi, especially for a jitter sensitive, high data volume traffic like NDI, would appear to be a recipe for frustration if not reliable failures ;^)
If you understood networking well enough to address WiFi operational issues to be reliable for this use case, you'd also know enough to address firewall configuration settings for NDI without... so just realize you are on a path that will be trouble

My recommendation - Use a laptop dock, or get a USB to Ethernet adapter and go wired Ethernet. I'm assuming desktop isn't also on WiFi, if it is, fix that as well
Then, what you need is firewall/network ACL settings for NDI, and then figure out if/how to enter that into McAfee
You comment about making firewall setting for OBS Studio indicates a mis-understanding. NDI isn't going into OBS. NDI video stream goes to NDI plug-in, which then passes traffic, after handling, to OBS. The NDI plug-in in this case, is its own program

hi
i got exactelly same problem - i adjusted exceptions in mcafee firewall with all required ports e.g. 1935 and all the rest.
The transmission starts and after a couple of minutes OBS disconnects and i loose connectivity. It shows messages about DNS thais not available. What interesting the Skype connectsions with the use of NDI is continued wile OBS goes down - so there the connection is good but something must block OBS. That looks like inproper firewall settings or antivirus.

Does anyone have idea how i could investigate it except from getting rid of mcafee or turining it off?
