NATIVE DLSR support is NOT A MYTH; I’ve seen it!

Like many I subscribed to the “it’s impossible, you need a capture card”
Logic.
Didn’t question it.
Then in conversation with someone who uses ECamm, they told me it was plug-in-play.
Of course, I didn’t believe them.
I stood my ground repeating the mantras I’ve read everywhere.

then I plugged me ancient Canon eos Rebel xs (there isn’t even HDMI ON THIS THING!! It’s a 1/8th composite video out! ) USB into my MAC again.
Boom!
Picked it up NATIVELY.
No drivers.No settings.
power on.There it was.

SO ITS no longer the question of IF.
It’s the HOW.
(I ran NDI @1080 out of ecamm into OBS&SLOBS and there was a hint of quality loss, and obviously the cpu/gpu spike)

Hi,

I am not sure how Ecamm does it, but there is a program called Camera Live available via GitHub. It does exactly the same: You plug in your Canon DSLR and it makes the camera available as a Syphon source which is instantly recognised by OBS:

Kind regards,
Florian

HOW?

Where does ecamm live in the input list? syphoning client? I'm having a hard time finding the feed.
