My Webcam Stopped Working But the Light is Still On

So I was configuring the setting of my OBS in Streamlabs, adjusting the hue and saturation when the camera freezes when I was adjusting the sharpness. I closed the software but the light on my webcam is still on. I checked device manager and my camera is not there. I unplug it and plug it again and it popped up in my device manager, but it will automatically be gone when I open OBS or even the Camera app. But its working on Google Meet and video call in Messenger. The only problem is the quality of my webcam got effed up, it was stuck on the settings that I left on the Streamlabs.

Please help me! I don't know what to do. I am using this webcam for my online class and was just goofing around Streamlabs OBS when this happened. I hope you can help me. :(

This exact problem has happened to me today! i played around with the sharpness settings and my camera had stopped working. I unplug it and plug it back in and it reappears on my device manager but as soon as i go to use it on anything it removes from device manager again.

Hi! Good news, I already fixed mine (hope it will work with you). I bought a new webcam (Logitech c310). I plugged it first and it was working perfectly in OBS. I tried to connect my old webcam that OBS messed up because I was kinda hoping it would work, and it was working! I was able to add it on my scene and adjust the sharpness without it being ejected from the device manager. So now I have 2 webcams. hehe

@lapd100 go to device manager deinstall (not remove) the driver remove the camera restart system and install it again
same problem here! i tried uninstalling the device and reinstalling it but it’s still stuck on that set sharpness and i can’t get it to stay on long enough to reset it.

HEY so I just had this problem and I have figured out how to fix it!!! You'll need discord, which it sounds like you have. First thing is to go into your OBS and double click it as if you wanted to change settings. Make sure you click "deactivate" as this will prevent OBS from trying to use the camera which ultimately fucks it up. Now open discord, go to settings -> voice and video and click test video. Your camera is not previewing. Make sure you keep this on for the next step. With the camera previewing discord is using the camera and OBS will not be allowed to use it at the same time, now you should be able to click "activate" on OBS and then "configure video" without the camera getting shut off. Change the sharpness setting back, save. go to discord quit out of settings to stop the preview and now deactivate and activate the camera to let OBS get priority of the camera. Should work like it used to. :)
