Hey, I am a new user to obs and I’ve heard great things and it looks like for most people this works great but I’ve had a huge problem. I tried early today to make a 30 minute YouTube video of me playing a game. I then proceed to spend another 30 minutes trying to make the thumbnail BEFORE checking the footage (Yes this was a bad play on my part). I decide to check the footage and see that the footage got cut to about 10 minutes. I was furious. I waited a few hours until I did a test run where I set the recording as is for around 20 minutes and when I checked the file everything was fine, but then I went for take two of the actual video ( which was around 30 minutes again). I checked the files first this time and I found the same thing happened, the video got cut to about 10 minutes and 30 seconds. Somebody please help me fix this issue.

So..
1. OBS is free open-source software, meaning in all practicality, that the onus is on you to RTFM. So make sure you thoroughly read the Quick Start guide on this site https://obsproject.com/wiki/
2. there is a pinned post in this forum (and each of the Operating System based support forums) about posting your OBS log when asking for help (link also in my .sig)
If the footage is cut, my first suspicion, which could be VERY wrong, is that you've set your OBS setting to demand more than your computer can do (like silly high fps). But without your OBS log, I and others can only guess. Also, be aware than real-time video rendering is computationally demanding. Meaning if you have an older or lower-end CPU/system, and that computer system was busy before using OBS, there may not be enough CPU, GPU, RAM, Disk I/O, etc to add real-time video encoding on top. Hopefully yours is a case of settings vs inadequate hardware.
