Question / Help My stream and game lag when obs is open

I recently began streaming Fortnite through OBS and I have an issue with lag. Whenever I stream both the game and the stream lose frames like crazy. My husband has tried to help mess around with the settings but nothing has helped so far. SO I'm looking for advice.

• Update your OBS to the current version. It's better optimized.
• Use nvenc as encoder instead of x264. It will not overload your CPU as x264 does.
