Hello folks,
i have a problem with OBS or rather with audio tracks...
I set up OBS with both desktop audio and the audio of my mic and split up the tracks, no problems so far...

After recording the gameplay, i tried to switch audio tracks in VLC media player, but only audio track one is available...
(when i switch the tracks of desktop and microphone audio before i start recording, still only track one is available...)

I hope any of you can help me :)
Simon

PS: i have a familiar problem when recording with shadowplay
(2 tracks displayed in VLC, but the second one is blank)

To write multiple audio tracks to the recorded video, you have to do this:
  • use advanced output mode (Settings->Output->Output mode: advanced)
  • use a recording format that supports multiple audio tracks such as mkv or mp4
  • actually write multiple audio tracks to the file (check tracks in settings->Output->Recording->Audio Track)
  • assign audio source(s) to the additional tracks (right-click audio source->Advanced Audio Properties->Check which source(s) should be written into which track(s)

I still need to do this on my setup. More than once I've made a recording where I wished I could mute what I was saying while leaving the game audio intact.

Ah okay, that was simple to fix and my fault...
I know this is an OBS forum, but do you have any idea how to "fix" shadowplay?

I always record my games to 4 audio tracks: one track with game audio, mic and voip (Teamspeak), one with game only, one with mic only, one with voip only.
This way, I can quickly verify the complete video by listening to track 0, but if I feel the urge to postprocess, I can mix the 3 other channels individually and remove voip parts.
However, the voip (Teamspeak) source is always muted, because here in Germany it is not allowed by law to record without explicit consent of all people present. In case I want to record gameplay including all people present in TS, I ask them and only after all agree I activate the source.

@Simon/Kenobi I don't know much about Shadowplay. A quick google search for "shadowplay multiple audio tracks" yields quite a few results, you might look through them.

Do you use Virtual Audio Cable/ Voicemeeter? (to seperate teamspeak from Desktop audio?

My Problem with shadowplay is not that i don't know how to record 2 tracks, it's because one audio track (my mic) is blank (no audio at all)...

I use the virtual VB-cable audio drivers that can be obtained from the same website as Voicemeeter.

I doubt this will help you, because no two configurations are the same. Our first difference would probably be that I am using a USB headset and you a headset connected to your (internal) sound card. And I don't use Voicemeeter, I only use virtual audio devices to be able to split audio into different tracks recorded by OBS. If I post screenshots, you would do everything to make your system look as in the screenshots, but if you don't understand what is going on, you will not succeed.

Instead, consult this guide. It contains general information about separating audio, including pictures:
https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...audio-sources-off-your-stream-or-recording.8/

All this audio configuring and mixing stuff has delicate details. Depending on what you want to achieve, you have to go through all of the configuration features of OBS, Windows Sound Mixer, Windows sound device settings and whatever 3rd party tools (sources or extra mixers) you use. 3 screenshots will not suffice to tell the story. You have to look yourself through all and try which setting will result in which effect.
