I don't really have a good excuse for using such old things, except that they are what I've been using since 2023 in the current configuration.
I did have to reinstall Windows in late 2025 I think it was. Or maybe it was 2024. I only use the program about once a month lately. But lately, when I do run the OBS in the middle position in a old computer configuration that has been sitting here for 3.5 years all network connected and this freezing computer is the OBS/Adv.Sc.Swtch, it just seems to freeze 2 times requiring complete computer power cycle. Lucky that the computer doesn't just die and not start as it did when I had to reinstall Windows last year or was it the year before?
It's officially the first laptop with a Ryzen 7 in it, from 2017 or 2018. Asus. It has no reason to still be working. I just hadn't had this particular problem as recently as yesterday I recorded a good 1 hour livestream on the 3rd computer in the network while this one plugged away doing the same thing it is built to do basically flawlessly.
I do seem to have a problem with my netowrk, some of the 6 or so cameras, sometimes just freeze during the live video encoding by the OBS. The Bitfocus Companion and extensive StreamDeck and extensive Advanced Scene Switcher script, worked flawlessly as recently as yesterday, though as I mentioned the one camera froze about 15 minutes into the 1 hr recording. The recordings are made on the 3rd computer here it just encodes and sends out thru Distro AV.
Here is an analysis of 3 different logs, 2 where the computer froze. Nothing shows in Windows Event Viewer except the startup after an improper shutdown critical errors, and yesterday I got a few Core thermal notes there, just stating that for each of the 16 cores the core thrermal evaluator was activated. The Event viewer doesn't say anything about the shutdown or freeze, which just happens as a complete screen freeze with no mouse cursor or keyboard response. Any ideas about the freeze? Like I said before the program seems to work after the computer is restarted a 2nd time (for a total of 3 starts on the day) as recently as yesterday. But these freezes didn't really used to occur.
I just don't know what is causing these problems as it worked pretty well all last year and since the reinstall to Win 11. The computer isn't even modern enough to do any options such as HAGS or the modern Core Isolation type settings.
I don't update cause I don't go online with that 3 computer set unless it is with the 1 computer to get a new thing there. There is little reason to expect any changes.
