I have recently upgraded my obs studio to the newest patch available and now my obs will not record videos with my resolution at 1920x1200. its making me change my obs settings to 1920x1080 to record and it does not sync up with my 24 inch monitor good and my videos are coming out kind of blurry. before i did the latest patch it worked fine. when i have obs studio opened in game mode it shows the game on the obs screen just like it should but when i record its the video just comes out as a black screen. so i change the record settings on obs to 1920x1080 and it works but my videos look blurry and low quality when i have the record settings set really high, plz help and ty!

Every modern game out there renders at standard 1080p at 1920x1080. When you upload a recording every streaming service supports 1920x1080.

So why are you trying to do something different? Your videos are not looking good because you got the wrong OBS settings.

Try these settings for your recordings.

Canvas: 1920x1080
Output: 1920x1080
Recording Quality: High Quality, Medium File Size
Format: mp4
Encoder: x264

im not trying to do something different, the program is MAKING me do something different, my screen resolution is 1920x1200 not 1920x1080. and now the videos wont record in 1920x1200 and makes me use a different resolution to record than my game and screen resolution so my videos look blurry.

It worked 100% perfect in 1920x1200 before i did the patch and updated my obs studio to the newest patch

Go to your Windows control panel and get your graphics display card set to 1920x1080

Create a Scene, call it "My Display Capture"
Add a display capture source
Did it capture the entire display?

Create another Scene, call it "My Window Capture"
Add a window capture source
Run your application (assumes it has a window border and title)
Choose for the window property the application you want to capture
Choose the Window Match priority relating to title
Did it capture your application window?

If yes, then follow my instructions above for recording.

i would run my gpu settings at 1080 but my monitor makes everything look kinda bad if i do 1080 and not 1200, 1200 is recomended on my monitor and it looks sooooo much better. this is the only reason i want to be able to record in 1200 instead like the old version of obs always let me do. i never had any problem with the way my videos looked before they were perfect in 1200 instead of 1080 and now i cant record in 1200 like my old obs used to and i cant figure out why

So your display card setting is set to 1920x1200 in Windows display.

Go to OBS Studio, go to the Video category
Set the base canvas to 1920x1200.
Set Output to 1920x1200.
Set downscale filter to Bilinear since this is a 1:1 mapping
Set FPS to 30 or 60
30 if not a fast animation like a slide show or crossword puzzle or anything that doesn't have lots of movement
60 if high frequent animation like in a game
Save.

Then go create the two scenes I described above to see if you can see the scene in the device display format and in a window capture format. When done, then follow my recording settings advice.

ok i did everything you said and whne i record it shows the game play on obs just fine but the video still shows nothing unless i take the settings off 1200 and put back to 1080 and i still get blur with my vids on your settings (same settings i was already using). it will not let me record in 1200 now with the new patch from obs and my game looks bad when i scale from 1200 to 1080. it has to be something wrong with the obs patch cause before i upgraded i never once had this problem.

hmm i changed back to a older version and it still wont let me record in the same settings i always recorded in before. i made this video in 1080 instead of 1020 at that same exact settings you said to use( the ones i was already using) and the words are kind of blurry and the video has a blurry touch to it. it def does not look like its 1080 wich im recording and rendering in 1080. any ideas on how i can clear it up some? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc72GSvuh3c&t=55s

Where's your obs log?
And why haven't you simply tried typing the resolution you want in to the base resolution in settings - video (with the current version of obs)?

how do i find my obs log? lol. and i have tried to type in the resolution i want. in the tab video it lets me keep 1920x1200 but in the output/recording tab i cant use 1200 cause it will not capture my video. right now i have it set on the settings/video tab to 1200 but the video still comes out blurry and i can not figure out why. i can barely read the name over my head after i record something

these are the current settings im recording in and the videos come out blurry and bad looking where i can barely read the letters on the screen, i see other videos on youtube where people use the same settings and theres is crisp and very clear

Uncheck the rescale output on settings - output.

Also, don't use CBR for recording, use CRF for x264 or CQP for nvenc.

And read that warning about saving directly to mp4.
