My monitor is 1080 but my gaming I am capturing is in a 720p window size so should my base canvas be 1080 or 720

I noticed when I scaled down to 720 my webcam looks terrible when it's shrunk down into the corner, the webcam is broadcasting in 4K, when I choose the canvas size as 1080 the webcam looks fine and everything looks fine but I'm thinking would I get better overall video quality of the game that's in a 720p window if I set the base canvas to 720p or would that make things worse

My main monitor is 1440p, but I set my canvas to 1080 as that is what I'm Recording (used to stream at 720p30, now streaming at 1080p30). I then set my App window being captured to be appropriate size. this avoids re-scaling, giving your computer less to do (and potentially degrade/mess up). There are Pro's and Con's to either approach

in the keep it simple approach, if you aren't capturing full screen (1080) and only want/need 720, then setting Canvas to 720 would be where I'd start.
