What other software do you have installed? Any Creative "X-Fi" stuff, ASIO4All or similar? Something seems to kill the audio stream repeatedly.

I actually have no idea what kind of software you might be referring to, can you please elaborate? (ELI5)

ASIO4All is a software that uses the Audio API exclusively, stopping other applications from using it (lowest level access unless HW offers ASIO). Creative X-Fi is something that comes with your Main/Motherboard's install disc and usually only causes problems. Vegas Pro is also known to randomly cause Audio to stop.

Usually not having Vegas Pro running should be enough. If it still happens without it running try one (or all) of the following:
  • Run OBS as Administrator
  • Disable Anti-Virus, Malware Protection and Memory scanning software (Avast for example)
  • Check that your Audio device settings aren't incompatible (too high Hertz, bits, or otherwise problematic speaker layout).
Aside from that I really don't know what to suggest. Something outside of OBS is causing issues.

I've already tried all of those things, but only uninstalling Vegas did the trick. Either that or it randomly decided to work again.

Hi, sorry to hijack, but in my case, I don't have anything else installed. My Audio is just set to Default.

It used to work, but a recent update killed it entirely. I didn't change any settings.

Update: The problem was fixed immediately after uninstalling Vegas, but after closing and opening OBS again, the problem returns
