Question / Help Multitrack Recording Put into Audacity?

Hey! So, I've wanted to use OBS Studio so I can record webcam, desktop audio, and mic. I've been trying to make a setup where I can record desktop audio and microphone audio as separate tracks, then put them into Audacity. I want to be able to edit the microphone track to eliminate background noise and add reverb, then sync it back up to the webcam footage in a video editing software.

Admittedly, I'm not very skilled in "computer tech" stuff and I've been messing around with multitrack recordings and stuff, but I've made no improvement.

Sometimes, when I attempt to import the audio into Audacity, it says that it's an Advanced Audio Coding file, which they don't support, and recommend switching it to a supported format (WAV or AIFF). When I convert it to WAV, it only has one track with both the desktop audio and mic on it.

Help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

When you import to Audacity you must select the tracks that Audacity detects. And remember that you must use "Advanced mode" to record multiple audio tracks (use .mkv better than .mp4)

PD: In OBS, to route your audio inputs to specific tracks go to "Edit -> "Advanced audio settings", and check for each audio input the tracks where you want to record this specific input.

For example, you may want all inputs mixed in track 1, then only MIC in track 2, only Desktop Audio in track 3, and so on.

Ahhh, thank you so much! This helped, I was totally clueless to the fact that I actually had to select the tracks in Audacity, I thought they all imported. Thanks again!
