Question / Help Multiple RTMP streams as input

Hello,

I am looking for a solution on how to set up an rtmp stream as a source. (Edit: found the solution to the first part)

And if there is a possibility to watch the multiple streams at the same time like on other studio software?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

First, may need to run RTMP server and have something streaming into it.

Add a media source, uncheck local file, and then put something in, for example "rtmp://127.0.0.1:1935/live/test".

We do have RTMP servers and i already found the solution to that, thank you anyway. but what stays is how can i watch all those inputs at the same time? like it seems i can only have one input visible per screen (full screen) which is not handy at all.

You just add another media source as a different rtmp:// path. I hope your multiple streams are at a different rtmp:// paths.

Shrink your sources to have them side by side if you want that.

No i mean seeing them like in a professional program. side by side

between the mixer and the gfx there are all input sources visible, it does not have to be exactly like that. But in obs studio i can only put a scene or source in fullscreen which is not practical if i have 12 sources but only 3 screens.

Another option is to go to OBS settings, and increase the base resolution.
I do not think that that answer has anything to do with my question, or could you be more specific as to how i could use that to get 12 sources side by side in a preview mode on one single screen?

What version of OBS-multiplatform you using? Is it version 0.13 that have some studio mode button?

Edit: it may just be that OBS-multiplatform may not support previewing more then 1 or 2 at a time. Maybe what you might be asking is a feature request?

it is the newest one yes. Well i just saw that you editet your post appearantly, so what you suggest is a workaround, but since i do not intend to stream such a scene.

What i need is just a small preview of all inputs (like all scenes) side by side i need to preview every scene. but only have 3 screens. 1 for the main windows the other for communication and social media and one for previewing all scenes at the same time. since it was a real hassle with the standard obs and we had to do workarounds which made obs crash we were happy to see obs studio but this is a main feauture other professional softwares have (see picture i posted earlyer where all inputs are shown (or scens however you wanna call em) between the edit& live and mixer&gfx part (the horizontal line in the middle)

I could live if its on another screen which is even better.

about your edit, if its not done yet then yes it then would be a request, because we are desperatly in need for such a thing.

You can't do something quite so robust... but if you just need to see all of the sources at once on another screen...
Create a new Scene, add all the sources to it, and lay them out in a grid or however you like. Then right click on that Scene and Fullscreen Projector it to whichever display you want, and then it'll always show on that screen, even when you switch through the other scenes.

Hope that helps.

Nope, I was talking about scenes. Not directly sources i might have used the word inputs for scenes, but scenes is what i meant.

You're saying you need each separate scene laid out in a grid? If you're just talking about viewing the different streams, why do they have to be separate scenes? Is there going to be other stuff on each scene that's necessary to see on a grid view like that?

If you really need something so robust, why not use a more professional level software/hardware?

Cant find something like livestream studio for an affordable price.

And yes there will be more info shown than streamed. The workaround is bad for my needs.

I'm assuming there's a reason why that can't be applied to the streams before they're sent out in the first place?

Ideally I'm sure OBS will eventually turn into something with all of those features, but you'll probably be waiting quite a long while.

Already waiting a long time even forked it and tried to write it ouselves. (which we will try with the studio too)

And it is quite possible, its just not implemented that way. If it works in the workarounds then its possible to implement natively. It is just that the workaround is not possible with scenes but only with sources.

Please excuse me I do not want to discuss why I need it or why the offered solutions (workarounds) are not working for me. But I seek a solution to the question I asked. And as it seems there is no possible way for my special use to get it to work for our needs.

The funny part is tho, that I get told to use professional software instead. BUT its way too expensive, so we would need a sponsor. but noone wants to sponsor someone if their stream lags or breaks because of bad software. (or in OBS Studios case: missing features which are standard in equivalent software)

I have used vmix to handle multiple rtmp feeds in a similar fashion and pass them on to OBS.

It has a 60 day full working trial. $350 for the HD version that supports more than 4 inputs. But the trial should let you see if it is what you need.

We tried all major programs and its livestream studio or wirecast we woud need.

also vmix is still too expesive. We have 100€ available for such an application. And yes I now that there is none available. But pushing OBS Studio in the right direction coukd make it more popular and get more developers working on it.

The workaround does work with scenes. You can choose scene as one of the sources for a different scene.Atleast it does as of the latest version. Also if you want to make it extra fancy you could make a image underlay that labels all of the scenes so you know which is which.
