Multiple instances support not working anymore starting from 31.x

Hi,

I've been struggeling for about couple of weeks because I need to have support for two or sometimes even more simultanous instances on one computer. Which then stream intoto Youtube to different livestreams. F.e. in sports there might be multiple fields that should be streamed separately.

Until this autumn everything have been working smoothly. It seems that this problem have started from version 31.x. Possible it has miraclously worked earlier but now when I updated to 32.x it stopped. After multiple tries I have now returned to version 30.2.3 which seems to be working correctly. I will see it this weekend when I'm streaming next time.

I've been using --multi in my shortcut for starting OBS. I've also tried --portable and --profile "x" --collection "y". The problem with either of these settings is that the software stops working either in the wizard where it says something about configuring/setting up browser and also the Settings button stops working.

This is not a good thing and it's not a good thing that if I have powerful hardware and connections, I would've to put another computer to get another instance for streaming.

Please fix this issue or it's impossible to update the software.

Sincerely,

Arto Moilanen

This isn't a behavior that will change, it was mostly luck that there weren't any major issues previously but running multiple instances from the same config directories creates a risk for your data. It is recommended to use multiple portable instances if you really need to, although based on what you described it sounds like it would probably be better to use something like the branch output plugin and broadcast multiple feeds from a single OBS instance.
