Question / Help Multiple Cameras in Ubuntu Studio

Hi

I have 2 USB Logitech 270 Cameras, identical, powered through an externally powered USB Hub. I cannot seem to find a way to get them both in use at the same time using OBS.

I can have two of three different cameras running to capture video but they all have to be a different make or model - am I missing some setting which would allow me to use the same two identical cameras please?

Thanks
Kyle

Try connecting the cams to different usb ports. I have 3 270's myself and they have a driver issue that every camera reservs the complete usb bandwidth available.

Thanks Harold - I have tried going straight into PC and having same issue?

lebaston - thank you - I have given that a go but no dice - do I just need to get another camera so that there's two different types being used? There's nothing else I can alter or reserve or anything? Is it a known fault?

I was also having trouble running 2 Logitech C920 cameras at the same time on OBS. I am using OBS on Linux (Linux Mint version 21 which is based on the Ubuntu distribution). OBS would let me select one camera or the other, but not both at the same time, even on different scenes. I ran the command lsusb (list USB devices) on the terminal. I noticed that both cameras were on USB bus 005 with different device numbers. I plugged one of the webcams into another port on my laptop instead of both being plugged into the same USB 3 hub, then that Logitech C920 camera went to USB bus 001. (To see the change you must run the command lsusb on the terminal again.) Then I was able to have both cameras working at the same time even in in one scene! So it appears that each Logitech C920 Camera should be on a separate USB bus number. It seems that it should not matter what USB bus they are plugged into, but it does. Hope that helps somebody else. OBS is a great program for recording videos on the Linux Desktop because you can have multiple cameras and even screen video captures all at the same time in your video recording. Very cool!
