Question / Help Multiple audio tracks

I've been trying to figure this out but I just don't get it. How do Tracks in MP relate to Audio Devices? I want to record when I stream without having to use DXTory but I need to be able to set up 3 audio devices for game audio, microphone and Skype. I have those set up as devices under the "Audio" setting but then in "Output" under the Streaming and Recording tabs it has radio buttons for Audio Track 1-4. What do I set those to, 3 (for the 3 tracks I want)? The Mixer has check boxes for the same 1-4, but what do those do? Is this what is determining which audio devices are being recorded to separate files? My assumption would be then, set each device to it's own "track" and then I'll have 3 completely separate tracks.

Sorry if this is blindingly obvious and I'm being an idiot but I don't fully understand and I don't see any info anywhere that helps. Thanks.

If the audio tracks are confusing you, then you can set the Output Mode to Simple and you will not have to deal with it.

Audio Tracks are not Audio Devices.

Game Audio and Skype are both the same audio device when you hear them through the same speakers / headphones btw.
If skype and the game have seperate audio devices just use Desktop Audio Device 2 in the Audio Settings.

If you want to use the audio tracks continue reading here:

It works like this. In the advanced mixer sections you have check boxes for the 4 audio tracks. So you assign the audio sources / devices to the tracks. Then you can choose which audio track to stream or record.

For example if you want to stream with your microphone audio but not have that audio in your local recording.

Okay let me see if I can get my head around this :) So you're saying that even if I split my game audio from my Skype audio, I should not be putting those into MP as separate devices? I don't understand then how OBS is going to be able to split them into different tracks at the recording end. And how do I know what each "Track" actually is?

Perhaps I can show you. Here is my setup currently

Line 1 is my game audio, Line 2 is my Skype, and Mic/Aux is my mic. OBS does pick these up as completely separate devices and I can adjust each one individually which is what I want to do. But then the "Tracks" is still confusing me

So looking at the Mixer, what exactly are Tracks 1-4 doing? If I already have my 3 devices set up to be separate, what is the need for Tracks? And how do I know what each Track is or what it's recording? It's this part that is still confusing me. The recorded .FLV file does not have any separated audio tracks, and I don't have the option to extract them. So OBS is still mixing everything down into one track.

Okay I get the "Tracks" now, I have to set all devices to Tracks 1 and 2 so that both the stream and recording get all three devices. My issue now is that OBS is not actually splitting those devices into separate physical audio tracks on my computer.

OBS cannot record devices as separate tracks yet.

Yes, I came to that conclusion after playing around with it but it would be a great feature and an alternative to having to use DXTory. Do you know if there will ever be the ability to record without OBS also recording the stream overlays when you're streaming and recording simultaneously?

That would be independent source recording or however you want to call it :D
It has been requested but will probably be something for much much later, or if someone wants to add the ability and has time to do it.
