Question / Help Multiple audio issues

Hello everyone, I hastily made an account because I've been having audio issues that I didn't get before and I can't seem to find anything on the forum. I'll try to be as comprehensive as I can so it may be long, sorry.
I use Windows 7, if it makes any difference.

So, first of all, I've been doing some recording tests (game capture and voice recording with OBS) because I'm doing a playthrough of Dark Souls III for a friend. I didn't have any issue some months ago, both video and audio were fine, I only changed headsets (both with microphone).

Now, the new headset I use can be plugged in using USB. When recording, the sound seemed deeper than before and a little bit muffled but the most annoying fact is that my voice kept fluctuating. The game's audio was fine but my voice audio level just kept going way down then normal again. After that, I tried removing the USB part and plugging the microphone jack directly. No more fluctations, but my voice was as if I was speaking from very far.
After that, I tried my former headset, plugged directly as well. First test was fine. Second test a bit less, so I tried to fiddle with the sound bars above the "Start recording" button, putting the one with the mic at 70% and the other one next to it (with the speaker) at 50%. The problem is that my voice gradually faded until it dissapeared. First audio test, I noticed the fade. I stopped then started again, the voice sounded from very far away. Stopped then tried again and I couldn't hear my voice anymore and it's been like that since then.

So here it is, at first there was this strange fluctuation thing and now I'm unable to record my voice. I'm doing a playthrough of the upcoming DLC and I'd really like to be all set up but I don't even know what's wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't hesitate to ask for more info and thans in advance.

Audio Hardware Specs means every audio device you are using. You were talking about an USB headset, that's an audio device as well.

Ooooh, ok. So, the former headset is a Spirit of Gamer Pro-H5 and the other is a Logitech G430. As for the logfile, here's one of the few last: https://gist.github.com/47d6595248c3d164e23ffd1e7037f873

Note that I have found a way to circonvene to the issue though. I've put the USB part of the logitech on the SoG headset and it works now (with a somewhat poor quality). However, the voice going up and down on the logitech (retried after the other worked) still happen. Here's a logfile of that: https://gist.github.com/c1fca763294e0862374d2a30cea29520

Even though it works more or less now, I think it'd still be nice to know what happened here :/

Basically I think your onboard sound device is working fine, as it is not having any issues with the game or the OS itself. This voice fading thing sounds weird, so weird that I could imagine it might be a connection problem. The average computer has got two analog sound ports, one at the front of the computer case and one on the back at the I/O shield of your mainboard. Do the issues still occur when you plug it into the backside?
The USB headset might have a bad soundcard inside or it needs a driver update very urgent. You can test it on another computer if you have one available.

Well, the back panel is a bit out of reach with how I organized my computer so I almost never use it, I could make a few tests. I don't have another computer but this is already greatly helping, et least I'm relieved to know it only comes from either the headset or the USB part. I'll try to look for a driver but I think I'm already up to date.
I'll try that and tell you. In the meantime, thank you very much for your help ^^

Yup, as I thought, back panel didn't do much, I had the exact same issues. As for the USB, everything seems up to date. It all might be some weird connection stuff as you said, proof being that one headset wors fine with the USB but not the other. Anyway, since I somehow managed to find a way around it, the case seems closed. Thanks for your time, I'll check the cables when I can!

look at your audio settings when using the usb plug. search for a setting named "AGC" or similar and turn that off. This controls "Automatic Gain Control" and changes your volume based on what it thinks it should be (which is usually wrong)
Check all the settings on the input device (Audio Manager -> Recording) and see if there is additional software to gain more control over the usb part (probably part of logitech gaming software)

Ok, I'll look into that, thanks! Just a quick question though, where do you find this AGC, somewhere in OBS or like in general computer settings? I can't check that at the moment :/
