By multi-channel do you mean 3+ channels, or multiple stereo feeds?

I mean.. atm there is only stereo and mono support. I was wondering if there are any plans on 5.1 audio support so that my recorded videos contain 5.1 audio tracks instead of 2 channels stereo.

I know of no such plans. For input sources, that would be useful (with a channel router/selector, and the ability to mix it down). For output, unless you're willing to burn a ton of CPU/have absurdly expensive processors/have a dedicated mixing person+interface, it's not worthwhile.

Some recording software have an option to record audio "as it is". Generally it's in PCM lossless format. I didn't notice any difference performance wise when recording it this way compapred to AAC stereo encoding
